Hatta is the easiest way to see that the UAE is not all coastline and towers. The drive out crosses open desert and then climbs into the Hajar mountains, and the temperature drops noticeably as you gain height — in the winter months it is a genuinely different climate rather than a marketing line.
Most days take in the dam and the turquoise water below it, the heritage village, and the viewpoints on the way in and out. Kayaking at the dam is popular and needs to be booked separately; we can drop you at the water and collect you afterwards, which is easier than parking twice.
A full day of up to ten hours is from AED 700 including both drives, fuel, Salik and parking. The usual route needs no off-road driving and we do not offer it — everything worth stopping at is reachable on sealed road in a saloon or an SUV.
